Because of skepticism, another study was conducted to evaluate acetaminophen even further to see if it could prove beneficial.

In this study, 1,650 individuals ranging in age from 45 on up were put through this trial at 235 different facilities in the country. Everyone was individually assigned a random dose of either a placebo pill or three doses of Tylenol per day for up to a month. After a three-month time period, the patients went in for follow-up advice and reassurance.

According to the findings in this study, none of the individuals actually felt better any quicker than the other group. The average time for someone taking the placebo to notice an improvement was 16 days, whereas the acetaminophen group took 17 days. As you can see, the results are pretty similar.

Neither drug had any effects on the individual’s pain levels. Acetaminophen did nothing for the individuals sleep patterns, quality of life or sleep quality. Roughly the same number of individuals in both groups dealt with the negative health issues.

As a parent, you most assuredly want your child to be as healthy as possible—but while playing sports is a great way to get exercise, some sports can put your child at a higher risk of sports trauma and overuse. Recently, a number of medical professionals who specialize in sports medicine have reported a rise in the number of young patients who present with repetitive use injuries and other sports trauma.

Youth sports are as popular as they’ve ever been, and as rigorous too. In the United States, an estimated 30 to 45 million children participate in organized sports that involve exhaustive training throughout the year. Experts believe that there is now a much greater specialization in one sport at a younger age, and training programs have also become more demanding in recent years. Furthermore, children who sustain injuries on the field or court often go back to playing before they have fully recovered—and the majority of them are not sufficiently trained in injury prevention.
