Your Back Pain Requires More than Acetaminophen to Cure It

If you have ever been in pain, you have probably reached for some Tylenol to help overcome it. However, what you might think is the miracle cure isn’t going to stand a chance against any pain in your back. According to an Australian study, 1,600 people suffering from acute pain in their lower back didn’t find any more relief from this pill than what they did a placebo.

Not only did it not help to alleviate any discomfort in the patients, but it also didn’t help them to sleep better at night. It also didn’t help them to enjoy life like they did before the back pain started. Just because you might think acetaminophen is the answer to your problems, that isn’t the case. Because of skepticism, another study was conducted to evaluate acetaminophen even further to see if it could prove beneficial.

In this study, 1,650 individuals ranging in age from 45 on up were put through this trial at 235 different facilities in the country. Everyone was individually assigned a random dose of either a placebo pill or three doses of Tylenol per day for up to a month. After a three-month time period, the patients went in for follow-up advice and reassurance.

According to the findings in this study, none of the individuals actually felt better any quicker than the other group. The average time for someone taking the placebo to notice an improvement was 16 days, whereas the acetaminophen group took 17 days. As you can see, the results are pretty similar.

Neither drug had any effects on the individual’s pain levels. Acetaminophen did nothing for the individuals sleep patterns, quality of life or sleep quality. Roughly the same number of individuals in both groups dealt with the negative health issues.

If you ever hope to restore your quality of life and eliminate any back pain, you need to do more than simply take a few Tylenol. You need to undergo physical therapy and make an appointment with a physical therapist near you. The physical therapist will be able to help get your back in alignment and alleviate some of the stress and pressure you might be dealing with.

If your spine is out of alignment, it can cause a number of problems and pain for you. By taking the time to speak with a licensed physical therapist, you can figure out exactly what you need to do to transform your life for the better. Don’t spend another day in pain when there is something that you can do to take it all away.
